About Eastpak

Eastpak is an American lifestyle brand founded in 1952 in Boston as Eastern Canvas Products USA, Inc., initially producing military gear. Eastpak is known for its durable products, offering a 30-year warranty, and for pioneering wheeled luggage for consumers in 1999. The brand has collaborated with designers like Raf Simons and Walter Van Beirendonck, and has engaged in charitable projects such as the Eastpak Artist Studio. Acquired by VF Corporation in 2000, Eastpak continues to promote individuality, inclusion, and positive resistance.

Luggage Durability Test

  • Mileage Test: Wheel Performance - The Wheel Running Test evaluates the durability of the Resist Case wheels under real-world conditions, simulating repeated travel with a loaded suitcase to ensure long-term performance without failure.
    • Test: Run loaded luggage for 32 km in total at a speed of 4km/h. First 16km in 2-wheel pull mode, the other 16km in 4-wheel push mode.
    • Result: Wheels remain 100% functional.
  • Expandable Handle Operations - The Pull Rod Shock Test assesses the durability of the telescopic handle by repeatedly extending and retracting it under load, ensuring it remains functional and resists bending or jamming during heavy use.
    • Test: Operating the entire handle for 1000 times
    • Result: Telescopic handle remains 100% functional
  • Handle Shock - The Handle Shock Test evaluates the strength of the carry handles by applying repeated force to simulate lifting, dropping, or mishandling, ensuring they withstand regular travel stress without damage.
    • Test: 2000 jolts
    • Result: OK, handle and shell are fine
  • Stair Test: Body & Wheel Resistance - The Stair Test simulates the repeated impacts of dragging a loaded suitcase over stairs and curbs, testing the structural integrity of the body, wheels, and handles under real-world travel conditions.
    • Test: 500 cycles from which 250 curb drops and 250 curb lifts
    • Result: Luggage remains 100% functional
  • Drop Test - The Drop Test simulates accidental drops and rough handling by dropping a fully-loaded suitcase on all sides and angles, ensuring it stays functional and protects its contents without cracking or damage.
    • Test: The suitcase is dropped on all 6 wheels and 6 faces, 1 time on each at sides and 2 sides. Each 45-degree angle & angle, edge and casing.
    • Result: OK, luggage drop test, no cracking of the casing, no drop of the wheels
  • Tumbling Test - The Tumbling Test simulates airport baggage handling by rotating a loaded suitcase through repeated tumbling cycles, ensuring it can withstand rough transit without damage.
    • Test: Rolling machine, 50 times rolling
    • Result: Luggage in general remains 100% functional
