Sometimes simple things are the best things. We couldn’t agree more and that’s why we love the Herschel Pop Quiz. This is one of Rushfaster’s most popular classic backpacks and it’s easy to understand why. It’s a traditional bag that comes in a variety of colours which makes it suit just about anyone’s personal style. Have a read of our in-depth Herschel Pop Quiz Review to find out why it’s is such a favourite.
This backpack comes in a classic shape that’s slightly tall and skinny. We took the 15″ laptop version for a spin for our Herschel Pop Quiz Review. Before anything else, we gave it the Rushfaster beer test to see how many 6-packs could fit inside. For a rough indication of size, we managed to get 2 6-packs in there but there wasn’t much room leftover for anything else. For leisurely activities like a day at the park or the beach, we’d probably just stick to 1 6-pack and leave room for other nibblies and a picnic blanket or towel.
The 15″ size is great because it can hold a decent amount of gear. For anybody who is a little bit shorter, though, and doesn’t mind compromising on space, the Pop Quiz is also available in a 13″ option too.
The design of the Pop Quiz is perfect for all the minimalists out there. At first glance, the backpack looks like it only has one big compartment and one small front pocket, but there are actually 4 different sections which aid organisation of gear inside. Zips are hidden away underneath some concealed zipper flaps that keep the bag looking nice and clean. We love how minimal the Pop Quiz looks because of this but the flaps do make opening and closing the bag a little bit more fiddly than usual.
The exposed zip on the front stash pocket adds a nice contrast to the rest of the bag. In some colourways, the reinforced bottom panel also comes in a contrast colour which makes the Pop Quiz more interesting. The design is basic and simple, colours and prints change with seasonal trends but the overall style is timeless and classic.
The main compartment has plenty of space for work or uni essentials. Apart from the 15″ padded laptop sleeve, there’s not really any organisation inside this compartment, though. While we were testing for our Herschel Pop Quiz Review, we discovered that even though the appears to be quite flat, it can expand considerably to hold a lot of items. We highly recommend it for high school or uni students because there’s plenty of room for things like books, binders, pencil cases, a water bottle and a lunch box.
The front section compartment came as a nice surprise during our Herschel Pop Quiz Review road test. The level of organisation inside this small pocket is fantastic for storing a phone, cards, keys and pens. The dividers keep small items neatly separated and eliminate the need for a pencil case, freeing up even more room in the main cargo compartment.
A small weatherproof zippered pouch sits on top of the large zip pocket at the front of the Pop Quiz. The weatherproof zip and lining provide a safe haven for electronic devices and protects them from the rain. The rest of the bag isn’t water resistant so this little section comes in very handy.
Our favourite part of this bag is a tiny pocket at the top which is really easy to miss. This small horizontal compartment just near the pull handle and is the perfect easy-access slot for sunnies or specs. It’s lined with the same soft fleece as the laptop sleeve and keeps eyewear safely cushioned. The pocket has been designed for glasses but could also hold items such as a small hard drive or a mobile phone.
After testing out this bag for our Herschel Pop Quiz review, we’d highly recommend it as an everyday carry option for students. It’s great for transporting a laptop and other school essentials without ever feeling too large or bulky. The Pop Quiz would also suit anyone who commutes to work by public transport or bicycle as things are really easy to access and find in the external stash pockets.
